Accidents happen. When they do, panic is your enemy. Here is how to handle the three most common bag disasters without ruining your investment.
- Water Spills: NEVER use a hairdryer. Heat shrinks and dries out leather. Instead, blot (do not rub) the water with a dry cloth and let the bag dry naturally in an airy room.
- Ink Marks: This is a nightmare. Do not use alcohol or water, as this will spread the ink. If the ink is fresh, use a white eraser to gently lift it. If it’s set, take it to a professional immediately. DIY remedies often make ink stains worse.
Oil/Grease (Lipstick or Food): Sprinkle baby powder or cornstarch on the stain immediately. Let it sit overnight. The powder will absorb the oil from the leather pores. Brush it off in the morning with a soft brush.
